Recent Happenings

October was a very busy month for us.

We have enjoyed wonderful visits with hospice, a nursing home, school and church fall festivals, and Austin State Supported Living.  Please visit our website and view the pictures from these events.  Go to our website and click on About Us, then on Memories.

We are looking forward to our scheduled visits in November— hospice, nursing home, and three special ed classes at Pickett Elementary School in Georgetown.

It takes a community of volunteers to make these events possible.  Our thanks goes out to Carl for all his time on the riding mower; Cheryl for coming by before work and helping with barn chores; Carrie and Cydney for coming out after work/school and helping with feeding and grooming; Rachel, Aubrey, and Lauren for helping us with grooming the minis.   And “mini” thanks to Carrie, Cydney, Cheryl, Lauren, Christine, Dana, Collene, Kylie, Chris and Louise for helping hold minis and take photos at our October events.  Also, those folks on the frontline:   Cathy, Christi and Richard for helping with the sign in sheets at the Central Baptist Fall Festival.

October 18 - Park Place Georgetown

We had an amazing experience visiting Park Place. This was our first visit with the facility, and the residents and staff enjoyed themselves. Boo and Noni enjoyed all the loving from the residents. We are looking forward to attending another visit.

October 22 - Family Group Night - Hospice Austin

We had the opportunity to take 6 minis to visit with the families in the bereavement group at Hospice Austin. The families each had a horse to groom, and 8 different stations to walk to, and talk about memories of the loved one they lost. It was a great experience, and we hope to attend their future event in the spring.

October 19 - Rutledge Elementary Fall Festival

We took Lil' Red, Noni, Raven, Tuffy, Sunday, Boo to the family Festival. The minis got a lot of love from various new friends. We had a lot of fun at this event.

October 20 - Christopher House - Hospice Austin

Boo and Noni had a great time at the Christopher House. We were able to go into the rooms, and meet with patients and family members. It was a very positive experience, and we cannot wait to get back there. We will return back the 3rd Sunday of every month.

October 26 - Central Baptist Fall Fest

This is the 5th year the minis have been invited to the festival. We had a great time decorating the horses, and seeing all the children with their costumes on. We had over 500 adults and children visit with the minis.

October 27 - Austin State Supported Living Center SPOOKTACULAR

This was our first time attending this event. The Staff, volunteers, residents, and friends and families had a great time interacting with the minis. We are looking forward to possibly getting to visit the facility another time.
